CLOTH (Community League of the Heights)

CLOTH is a community development organization supporting the neighborhood of Washington Heights

Project Brief

Part of Design Advocates’ work with the Neighborhoods Now initiative, a D/A team was asked to assist local retailers in developing a streetscape protection and display elements to allow retail small businesses safely open outdoors and in vacant interior storefronts.

Design Approach

The design proposals used off-the-shelf elements and systems like milk crates, PVC piping, metal shelving, and greenhouse kits that could be easily acquired or purchased and assembled without the need for skilled labor.

Home Depot is prepared to donate these elements to retailers who want to employ these systems.
