NYC Mesh is a community led non-profit broadband company that works on a ‘pay what you wish’ system.
Project Brief
25% of New Yorkers have limited to no access to broadband due to availability, cost of service, or because of housing insecurity. D/A is providing technical architecture and engineering services and developing community engagement and outreach programming for NYC Mesh to support their installations targeting communities of need. Installations are in development and approvals at three NYCHA developments in Brooklyn, Harlem, and the Bronx.
Design Approach
Design Advocates is working with NYC Mesh on an ongoing basis to run community engagement activities to help the network spread, build trust within communities, and understand the communities needs.
