NYCxDesign Corps
Client
New York City Economic Development Corporation
Design Corps is a collaborative initiative between NYC EDC, the American Institute of Architects, NYCxDesign and Sandow Media, and Design Advocates.
The Design Corps helps to partner restaurant owners with a roster of local architects and designers who are willing to offer their services pro-bono to help disadvantaged business owners to reopen safely and create outdoor dining installation in accordance with the NYC Open Restaurants Program.
Project Brief
Design Advocates created case studies and training materials for both designers and clients to engage in successful design collaborations, and shared insight and out commitment to social equity and access to ensure that the program as implemented would be equitable and well suited to the needs of restaurant owners who might be inexperienced in working with design professionals, and professionals who might not have experience working with business owners in disadvantaged communities.
