Cafe Cotton Bean is a coffee shop organized around a love of good “snack” foods— some that the owner enjoyed as a young girl in Japan, and others discovered in her ten years in New York.
Project Brief
The brief was to study the café’s circulatory needs, ordering and seating areas to help tackle the issues posed by COVID.
Design Approach
We analyzed the cafe with regard to COVID and social distancing regulations. We rethought circulation paths, social distancing, spatial divides, and waiting and queuing areas in order to maximize the safety of customers and employees.We created a COVID infrastructure kit of parts for restaurant and cafes. Multipurpose carts address the service needs of the cafe, the spatial needs of divides, and the streetscape requirements of the DOT.
